With a highly skilled crew and all the equipment required to complete all residential and commercial concreting jobs quickly and efficiently, the local team at N & S Formwork and Concreting Eastern Suburbs have the expertise to undertake all concreting projects – big or bespoke – on time and budget. Below are just a few examples of recent projects completed and in progress by our Bondi concrete team.

New driveway with extra parking extension at Bondi

The driveway at this freestanding house in the Eastern Suburbs was in a poor state. Tree roots were cracking the old driveway and it had become a trip hazard for the owners and their visitors.

Additionally, with their teenage kids now owning cars of their own and street parking in the neighbourhood often unreliable, they desperately needed more off-street parking.

First, we removed the old concrete driveway.  Next, we excavated an underutilised garden area adjacent to the driveway to create substantial extra parking that could easily accommodate 4 cars.

The original concrete stairs had to be removed as they were no longer in the right location.

We built a dinsel retaining wall at the end of the new parking area.  This adjoined the new concrete stairs we built leading up to the entry patio.

We finished off with a Cove Finish driveway pattern.  This makes the driveway non-slip and is more aesthetically appealing than standard concrete.

And finally, we completed the driveway cross-over at the bottom of the driveway in accordance with Woollahra Council regulations.

Concrete for a four-car garage and rooftop garden in Bondi.

We recently completed the construction of a brand new, 4 car garage at the front of a large home in Bondi.

First, we had to remove the original driveway and excavate the front garden to create a level surface for the garage floor concrete slab.

Next, we used Dincel walls for the garage walls.  Dincel is a fantastic building product.  On this project, not only are the Dincel walls strong enough to hold the suspended concrete slab roof of the garage – complete with 600mm of soil in the rooftop garden – but it drastically reduces the build time in comparison to brick or block walls.

In the photo below, the Dincel walls are complete and the suspended concrete slab roof has been poured and cured.  Our team are then adding the formwork and steel reinforcement for the upturned concrete walls which will form the edge of the rooftop garden.

Note the upturned beam running through the centre of the rooftop garden – this is necessary for the structural integrity of the slab due to the weight of the soil and water weight.

Once complete, the rooftop garden held 600mm deep of soil. We worked in conjunction with the client’s builder and plumber for waterproofing and drainage as per the architectural plans.

In early 2024, we are returning to the Bondi property to lay the new concrete driveway and build the lift shaft which will provide access from the garage to each level of the tri-level property.

concrete bondi stairs

Spiral concrete stairs at Paddington

Due to space constraints in this compact Paddington home, a spiral staircase was the only viable option to provide access to the new upper story extension.

Spiral staircases are perfect for smaller spaces, like the elliptical shaft in this Eastern Suburbs property.  When used creatively, they can become a focal point of the home, adding interest and interior design flair.

The underneath of the stairs was finished off in a contemporary Mediterranean-style rendered finish which will compliment the rest of the renovation.

It’s important to mention that concrete spiral staircases are not something many conceters have the expertise to achieve. Spiral stairs take experience, precision – and a dose of patience – to create a perfect result. Once complete, the finished product is always spectacular.

On this project, we had to make a lot of changes onsite and insitu due to the unique nature of the home.  We often have to liaise with the client’s architect and/or engineer because the architectural drawings supplied simply won’t work once onsite.  This is all part of the service and, with 30+ years concreting and formwork experience, we have the longevity and skills to ensure all work is completed properly every time.
