With a highly skilled crew and all the equipment required to complete all residential and commercial concreting jobs quickly and efficiently, the local team at N & S Formwork and Concreting Northern Beaches have the expertise to undertake all concreting projects – big or bespoke – on time and budget. Below are just a few examples of recent projects completed and in progress by our Northern Beaches concreting team.

House extension at Clontarf with suspended concrete rooftop garden and fish pond.

This project in Clontarf, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, required the removal and replacement of a failed concrete slab due to inappropriate waterproofing and poor workmanship.  With the remedial concrete work a necessity, the client turned it into a positive, using it as an opportunity to complete an extension of the home.

As is evident in the photo above, the work area was down a cavity so all tools and materials had to get winched down via a rope pully system.  Accessibility problems are often part of the job and our team is always happy to come up with solutions.

The first stage was the removal of the existing concrete slab on the ground.  This concrete slab was old and, due to an inadequate level of workmanship and waterproofing preparation when originally laid, had failed. Repair wasn’t an option and the only appropriate solution was removal.

Once we had removed the rubble from the old concrete slab, we were able to build the new formwork and pour a new slab.  Our waterproofing specialist ensured the customer wouldn’t experience similar problems.

Once the ground floor slab had cured, we built the supporting blockwork walls and formed up the suspended slab for the next level above. See photo below.

Another level was added above this which formed the roof with a rooftop garden and fish pond which can be seen in the photo above.

The finished project not only fixed the remedial problems with the failing existing concrete slab but also added two new rooms to the property.  The ground floor was to become a wine cellar.  The second level a home theatre.  Even the roof space was utilised and became a garden and fish pond which will be seen from the rooms above.

Our concrete waterproofing and drainage expertise was integral to this project. It was paramount that the ground floor cellar was waterproofed correctly to prevent damp and moisture from entering the room.  Importantly, the roof had to not only bear the weight of a fish pond and soil but had to manage large amounts of water both static in the fish pond and from rain and garden watering.

New suspended double garage at Bilgola Plateau

The photo below shows work in progress in preparation for a new concrete double garage at this property in Bilgola Plateau on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Prior to the new garage, street parking was the only option available.

The site had relatively steep access and a lot of existing sandstone rock was found throughout the site.  With some technical expertise, we were able to use the existing rock as the foundation for the concrete columns that supported the new suspended slab. It was a practical solution that saved the customer a lot of money should we have had to excavate and remove the rock.

At the rear of the garage, we added a set of concrete stairs that provided access down to the house.

Somewhere on the Northern Beaches…

The photo below shows the delivery of new Dinsel in preparation for a new, luxury home being built somewhere on the Northern Beaches. Stay tuned for updates…

Dincel is a modular wall system, which in most cases, can save one-third of your build time. Dincel is a waterproof polymer that replaces brickwork and blockwork.

It’s important that a contractor is employed that is experienced in Dincel construction (like the team at N & S Concrete and Formwork).
