An emergency response for a customer who was let down by another concrete company.
This Balgolwah project, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, began as an urgent request from a homeowner whose original concreting contractors had unexpectedly abandoned the job.
Managing the extension themselves, the client was left in a difficult position and needed reliable assistance to get the project back on track and completed. With the surveyor’s plans already completed, our team was able to step in and take over the structural works.
The project centred around the construction of a suspended concrete slab above a new double lock up garage. The suspended slab forms the roof of the garage and sits in line with the first floor of the home, creating a generous outdoor entertaining terrace that extends the existing living area. Measuring six metres by seven metres, the 42 square metre slab provides a significant amount of usable outdoor space and required precise engineering to ensure long term durability and structural performance.
For the garage walls, we used the Dincel wall system due to its efficiency, speed of installation and superior waterproofing capabilities. Dincel offers a lightweight, permanent formwork solution that reduces labour time, improves accuracy and provides excellent moisture resistance, making it ideal for underground and semi underground structures such as garages.
Throughout the project we worked directly with the homeowner and maintained close communication with the surveyor. Having access to accurate survey plans allowed us to step into the project seamlessly and ensure every element was constructed to specification.
Given the urgency of the situation, we scheduled the works around our existing commitments and completed the job over a three week period. The homeowner was extremely pleased with the quality of workmanship and the fact that we were able to accommodate the project at short notice, restoring progress and confidence after the original contractor’s withdrawal.
We will return to site at a later stage to complete the driveway once the next phase of the renovation is ready.
