Below is a summary of some of the recent projects completed by our Northern Beaches concreters.
With a highly skilled crew and all the equipment required to complete all residential and commercial concreting jobs quickly and efficiently, the local team at N & S Formwork and Concreting Northern Beaches have the expertise to undertake all concreting projects – big or bespoke – on time and budget. Below are just a few examples of recent projects completed and in progress by our Northern Beaches concreting team.
Concrete stairs and driveway construction at Belrose
We undertook several concreting jobs as part of an extensive renovation of an existing home in Belrose (Northern Beaches).
- New concrete entry stairs at the front of the home. The new, double flight of concrete stairs led up to the patio and front door.
- Excavation of the old driveway and laying of the new concrete driveway.
- Concrete slab for a new extension. As part of the renovation, an extension was added to the left of the property. We laid the concrete slab which formed the floor for the new addition.
Large suspended concrete slab for new house in Manly.
This was a knock-down rebuild project at Manly (Northern Beaches). We were called in to do all the concrete work including the large suspended concrete slab featured in the photo above. The white pipes visible is the underfloor heading. The concrete slab above eventually featured a large, open plan living area and kitchen area with spectacular views of the ocean. Above this was another level, featuring another large concrete slab that we laid, which featured the bedrooms (and even better views).
A highly technical build for our formworkers and concreters in Seaforth.
This house renovation at Seaforth (Northern Beaches) required extensive technical and engineering expertise from our team due to the steep escarpment on which the property was built. Large sandstone rocks on the property posed further problems that needed to be overcome and worked around.
We erected 7 metre high concrete towers to support the 20sqm concrete slab above which formed a patio and parking area. The concrete pads lock the columns into the ground, stabilising the structure so it can’t move.
This project highlights the technical expertise of our formworkers and concreters who had to overcome many logistical issues. It was our experience and expertise gathered from hundreds of challenging projects over the decades. Later, an inclinator was installed to provide easy access up and down the steep escarpment.
Even with all the technical and logistical problems, the job was completed on time and on budget.
Suspended concrete slab converted into a rooftop garden in Fairlight.
This large concrete slab formed part of an extensive house renovation in Fairlight (Northern Beaches). The photo above shows the large, suspended concrete slab that formed the roof of the new, four-car garage below. This large slab was eventually converted into a large rooftop garden. The hobs at the ends of the slab are essential for waterproofing to prevent water from exiting the rooftop garden. The hobs are essential for adding lateral strength to the slab. The house is located directly behind the concrete slab shown above.
Whilst onsite we excavated the old driveway and laid a new concrete driveway and did the Council cross over to the road.
Extension to a concrete parking area at a local Childcare Centre
The parking area at this childcare centre in Lane Cove (Upper North Shore) was inadequate. There was insufficient parking for staff and the small area posed problems for parents during pick up and drop off. We were able to extend the old carpark by an additional 150 square metres which made a huge difference.
This job had to be completed quickly to minimise any disruption to the Centre as the carpark was one of the main access points in and out of the building.
First, we demolished the old concrete parking area which had started failing. The uneven surfaces had become unsafe for anyone transitioning from the car park into the Centre. The new area that accommodated the new parking area extension had to be cleared and levelled. Once complete, the entire area was formed up reading for the new concrete pour.
The finished result was a much larger, level parking area where children, staff and parents could safely enter and exit.
New driveway at Mona Vale
The original driveway at this home in Mona Vale had fallen into such disrepair that it posed a danger to the elderly owners.
We visited the home on the Friday to provide an onsite quote. The customer gave us approval to go ahead on the spot. Due to a last minute job cancellation, our Northern Beaches concreting team were onsite on the Monday.
On the same day, we excavated and removed the old driveway, formed up and poured the new concrete driveway – in one day! Importantly, we were able to fix previous drainage issues so that all rain and stormwater drained quickly to the street. The owner was very happy there would no longer have to be concerned about slipping.
Allowing adequate time for the concrete to cure, the client was able to use the driveway on the following Saturday.
