Caring for your driveway to keep it looking great and ensure it stands the test of time.

To ensure its longevity for decades to come, the preparation of your concrete driveway and how it is laid is paramount.  All our work is guaranteed and fully insured providing you with peace of mind of a great job every single time.

Driveway thickness

A thickness of 100mm (4 inches) is recommended for a standard passenger car driveway. For heavier vehicles 120mm (5 inches) is necessary.

Drainage

To prevent water from pooling on the driveway, laying the driveway with a slope, or fall, is paramount.

A proper foundation

A strong gravel base is necessary under all concrete driveways.  Poor soil or a driveway with a steep gradient may require deeper gravel and even under concrete drainage. When packed tightly, the gravel will not move beneath the concrete.

Caring for your driveway

Concrete driveways are, traditionally, very low maintenance when compared to other options. If required, it can be cleaned with a stiff brush and garden hose. If your driveway has been sealed properly then oil stains should come off using this method.  A heavily soiled drive may require high pressure cleaning with a gerni or similar.

Repairing or resurfacing an existing concrete driveway

We are often asked whether it’s possible to repair or fix an existing driveway and the answer is YES!

If the existing concrete driveway and sub-structure is in relatively sound condition and it won’t cause problems adding a few inches of additional concrete on top of the existing driveway then, in most cases, we can pour new concrete onto of the existing slab(s).

Resurfacing an old driveway can not only increase its durability and lifespan but can add value to a property as it will look like new and can even be coloured, stamped or stencilled to match the aesthetics of the house and landscaping.
